Concealed Weapons Permits are good for five years. Those who applying for renewal should begin the process more than 90 days before expiration to avoid late fees.
The Sheriff shall require any person applying for original issuance of a permit to submit his/her fingerprints in addition to the other information required by submission.
The Idaho State Police shall conduct a national fingerprint based records check and return the results within 75 to 90 days. The Sheriff shall not issue a license before receiving the results of the records check.
Before a person can obtain a permit, a person shall have proof of either a National Rifle Association training card, Hunter Safety or an "Honorable" discharge from the Armed Forces. The following is suggested to concealed weapons permit holders, but are not required by law.
1. KEEP THE WEAPON CONCEALED: If you should accidently or intentionally display the weapon to others, you should expect that a police officer would contact you.
2. ALWAYS KEEP YOUR CONCEALED WEAPONS PERMIT ON YOUR PERSON WHEN CARRYING A CONCEALED WEAPON. |
