Snow Removal Plan

Upon forecast of continuing snow, plow trucks equipped with sanders will begin snow removal on first priority roads. The procedure will be snow removal and then an application of anti-skid. Snow removal and application of anti-skid will proceed to second, third and last priority roads in that order. Some deviation from priority may happen to facilitate plow routes more efficiently.

During an evening snow event, trucks will leave in ample time to finish first priority roads before school buses and morning commuter traffic. In a morning or afternoon snow event, plow trucks will leave at such time as to remove snow as soon as possible from first priority roads. In the event of a multi-day event, snow removal equipment will run as much as safely possible, but person hours will remain at levels deemed safe by the road supervisor.

In extreme drifting conditions, snow removal will wait until such time as progress of snow removal is reasonable.

Graders will be used as much as possible on gravel roads for operator safety and preservation of aggregate on road surfaces.
Graders will be used for the removal of snow pack or ice on all roads where necessary.

Graders will be used for winging of snow to facilitate snow removal and drift mitigation.

Anti-ice will be applied prior to forecasted snow, freezing rain, freezing fog, or long periods of cold temperatures.

A grader will be stationed in Cavendish, Grangemont, Gilbert and Upper Fords.
